Intergenerational projects 2016

The intention with this series of projects was to bring together different generations of people in our community to create something new together. We did this by supporting Numa Mackenzie to develop a mural with Avondale Community Preschool and Avondale resthome. Poet Amanda Eason ran writing workshops at Avondale College and Rosehill Gardens Retirement Village and published a book of short stories.

Avondale Community centre mural

Numa Mackenzie workshopped with the Avondale Community Preschool and Avondale Rest Home to co-create a mural on the entrance wall for the Avondale Community Centre. Inspired by the pūngāwerewere, it has come to life.

This project required big time collaboration. Thanks go to Arts Whau, Numa Natures Gentleman, Avondale Community Preschool, Avondale Community Action, Avondale Rest Home, The Whau Local Board and Auckland Council for the parts you played.
